Reduction of NOx emissions using ceramic filter
Rubišar, Václav ; Niesner, Jakub (referee) ; Jedlička, Filip (advisor)
My bachelor's thesis deals with the problém of NOX reduction which is present in the flue gases. First is the description of all major types of NOX and are given their chemical properties. It is mentioned and their impact on human health and the mechanism of their formation. Furthermore, they presented all the major methods by which today achieves the reduction of nitrogen oxides from flue gases and waste gases, especially the method of selective catalytic reduction. That can be achieved in several ways - for example by using ceramic candles or fabric filters. Each of these methods is also listed with main advantages and disadvantages. Part of this work will become familiar with experimental filtration unit INTEQ II designed for selective catalytic reduction of NOX, a description of its function and a simple calculation of pressure losses in the ceramic candle.

This bachelor’s thesis describes the selective catalytic reduction technology. It concerned of reducing nitrogen oxides in diesel engines. It describes components of the technology, their function and location in system. in first chapter there are described harmful substances of exhaust gas in connection with this technology. Second chapter contains description of emission standards. Next chapters are describing selective catalytic reduction and solutions of some manufacturers.
Technology of Selective Catalytic Reduction
Kudlík, Michael ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on technology of selective catalytic reduction. The technology was created as a result of introduction of strict emission limits which manufacturers with this technology reach. First part of this thesis deal with the composition of the exhaust gases, where are dismembered the various elements, and then are given here the European emission limits. Then is thesis focused on ways of reducing emissions of diesel engines which describes the function of exhaust gas recirculation and a function of selective catalytic reduction. Then are described development systems selective catalytic reduction. The conclusion consists of the use and application of Automobile Manufacturers.

This bachelor’s thesis summarizes actual technologies and trends by tractor engines and mention product portfolio of the most important tractor engine’s manufacturers used in the Czech Republic.
Draft Dry Bottom Boiler for bituminos coal, 540 °C, 9,4 MPa,feed water t = 170 °C
Podhorský, Jakub ; Nechvátal, Ondřej (referee) ; Skála, Zdeněk (advisor)
This masters’ thesis deals with a thermal design of a draft dry bottom boiler for bituminous coal that should replace a disassembled boiler in a current boiler room. Application of SCR is intended in order to reach emission standards of NOx.
Modelling and Design of the IC`s ESD Protection Structures
Běťák, Petr ; Sládek,, Petr (referee) ; Bartoň,, Zdeněk (referee) ; Musil, Vladislav (advisor)
The thesis introduces new semiconductor structures that are used as protections against Electrostatic Discharge occuring in integrated circuits. The fundamental structure for modeling and simulation has been lateral Silicon Controlled Rectifier. This SCR structure has been modificated to enable tuning of the triggering and holding voltages by changing geometrical mask dimensions. On the base of modeling and simulation the new proposed structures have been published. Also several protection structures have been designed to be manufactured and measured on a testchip. The final electrical behavior has been verified by measurement. Finally, the focus has been aided to protection circuit with bipolar transistor. This approach has been also simulated and verified by measurement. Advantages and disadvantages of the proposed protection structures are commented in the thesis.
Design Study of SCR Parts Placement on Tractor with Stress-strain Analysis of Determined Components
Polnický, Václav ; Hrdlička, Zdeněk (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with the exhaust system able to pass emission restrictions Stage IV. How emissions are produced as well as how could be minimized is described. Analysis of components lay out necessary to AdBlue injection is mentioned. Main part of this paper handle with given design of exhaust system combining diesel particulate filter, as well as filters required to reduce nitrogen oxides. Strength analysis covering vibrations, welds, fatigue and life is concluded. Thesis is made for Zetor Tractors a.s. purposes.
Up-to-date off gas cleaning system for Medical Waste-to-Energy units
Kotas, Dan ; Krňávek, Martin (referee) ; Krejčí, Tomáš (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with current situation of medical waste management in the Czech Republic and it also analyzes the quality of existing units for thermal treatment of the medical waste. In the second part of the thesis, available off-gas cleaning methods were described as well as the emission limits for waste incineration, which correspond to the legislative regulations effective in the Czech Republic. These emission limits are considered as input data for off-gas cleaning system design. In the main part of this thesis, two technological solutions of off-gas cleaning methods for Up-to-Date medical waste incineration unit were designed. The unit is designed for energy utilization of 1400 tons of medical waste accumulated during one year in a regional hospital of model region. From given input parameters, two appropriate apparatus concepts were created. After that, both concepts were evaluated either form energetic point of view as well as from material one. From these evaluations, key apparatuses of both concepts were designed which provided necessary design dimensions for further investment price estimation of each individual key apparatus. In the conclusion of this thesis, the best solution of an off-gas cleaning method was picked according to the comparison of operating and investment costs.
Treatment of flue gas polluted by NOx II
Jedlička, Filip ; Jecha, David (referee) ; Dvořák, Radek (advisor)
My master’s thesis deals with the problems of NOx abatement that are included in flue gases. The accent is put on combined flue gases treatment throug ceramic candles, where the deposited catalyst enables NOx reduction throug the method of selective catalytic reduction. The main aim of my master’s thesis has been the design of experimental equipment for current removal of gas pollutants (dioxins, VOC and NOx) and fly-ash on catalitic ceramic candle. Design of experimental equipment consisted in the calculation of basic characteristics like pipe diameter, filtration chamber diameter, heater performance etc. During the design it was necessary to build pressure drop model that was split into head loss of ceramic candle and piping system. For the evaluation of experimentally measured data and for description of ongoing catalytic reaction in various operating conditions was made prediction model of catalytical filter. The last chapter deals with planned experimental testings.
Exhaust Gas Energy Recuperation in a Commercial Vehicle Diesel Engine
Šroba, Roman ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Vondrák, Adam (advisor)
The scope of this thesis investigates value added by a turbocharger with an associated motor-generator unit to a diesel engine used by a commercial vehicle. A thermodynamic model of the engine was prepared in GT-SUITE software. Case studies were primary focused on a reduction of specific fuel consumption as well as a nitrogen oxides production using an energy recuperation of exhaust gas. Furthermore, there are described potential benefits of using an electric assistance in order to increase an exhaust gas temperature during a steady state engine operation. Additionally, there is an investigation of potential benefits of a turbocharger assistance in a transition engine mode operating during rapid acceleration of the vehicle. The results of individual analysis will be taken into account for a selection of turbocharger regarding specific engine implementation. The results of simulation suggest that it is possible to lower specific fuel consumption, production of nitrogen oxides, as well as accelerate turbocharger response.
